A Message from the Vice President

Students choose schools for a variety of reasons. The variety and quality of academic programs are high on the list, of course, but just as important is the supporting environment in which they’ll spend the next four years of their lives. It is the job of the Division of Student Affairs to ensure campus life is a vibrant mix of intellectual, social and physical pursuits.

To make the most of our students’ experience at Binghamton, we strive to create an atmosphere where learning opportunities pervade the culture. From unique living/learning residential communities that merge scholarship and recreation to extremely popular intramural and recreational programs that teach teamwork and leadership, Student Affairs prepares students to be leaders in their communities and successful in their careers. Our programs immerse students in an environment that constantly challenges and encourages them to apply classroom theories to real-life pursuits. We help students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

It is the mission of Student Affairs to support all our students, which include many first-generation college students and many more who have overcome hardship, financial or otherwise. Through dynamic programs and academic and financial support, we attract outstanding students of all backgrounds, who develop the tools and skills needed for success. We advance careers with personalized advising and job fairs and promote community through unique residential living options.
