Are international students required to study full-time?

Full-Time Working Toward Degree Status for Loan and Visa Purposes

International students are required to maintain full-time status for F1 and J1 visa purposes. Full-time registration status is defined as 12 credits per semester for level one students (who have completed fewer than 24 graduate credits), and 9 credits for level two students (who have completed 24 or more graduate credits). These students may not register for GRD 700.

If a student is course complete, they may fill out a Certification of Full-Time Status form and submit it to The Graduate School in order to be considered full-time. View additional information about full-time certification.
