ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Sept 16th: am - Metis is now collapsing. Pollen was collected last night to preserve in -80 degrees for a future bloom, so you will see holes cut into the side of the inflorescence. Thank you for your interest in Metis!

Sept 15th: am - The spadix has started to collapse and the color of the spathe has washed out a bit. It is still impressive and as of this morning there is still some lingering odor. The greenhouse will be open until 10:00pm tonight, Wed, but will go back to normal hours tomorrow. We recommend an early visit, since it will continue to deteriorate throughout the day. Thank you!

Sept 14th: 4:00pm - Metis is opening! Greenhouse open until 10:00pm Tuesday, 14th!

Sept 14th: 3:30pm - Greenhouse will be open tonight, Sept 14th until 9:00pm. Metis is starting to unfurl the spathe away from tightly closing over the spadix. It may or may not open tonight, but it looks to be a good bet for full open sometime Wednesday, Sept. 15th. Read more >
