- Senior Staff Assistant Tami Mann receives PEC Distinguished Service Award
- EdD graduate Vickie Mike (2000) named 2009 New York State Teacher of the Year
- Laura Lamash (EdD 2007) has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Dryden Elementary School.
- Chris Leahey (EdD 2007) recently signed a contract with Teachers College Press to turn his dissertation into a book. Teachers College Press is one of the leading academic publishers in the country.
- Chris's thesis deals with the treatment of the Vietnam War by U.S. history and global studies textbooks. In it, he critically reviews the major accounts of the war by leading historians and uses those to analyze the textbooks. He deals extensively with curricular hegemony and also discusses the implications for classroom teaching and textbook publishing.
- The working title for his book is Whitewashing War: How High School Textbooks Misrepresent America's Longest Military Conflict.

- Spring, 2008 graduate Natalie Berlin awarded Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence
- GSE is pleased to announce that Natalie Berlin (MSEd, '08, Childhood Education) received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence in a ceremony in Albany on April 7th, 2008 (13 out of 275 honorees were from Binghamton University). Natalie currently serves Graduate Student Organization Senator, as well as Vice President of the Professional Education Graduate Organization and Vice President of BU's local Kappa Delta Pi Chapter.
- 2007 EdD graduate Dr. Dominick Nuciforo's manuscript "Finding 'Soft' Ways to Address a 'Hard' Issue: Rethinking How Schools Address Childhood Obesity" has been accepted for publication by the American School Board Journal.
