
The Michael Collyer Memorial Fellowship is awarded to a senior who plans to pursue a career in screenwriting upon completion of his/her undergraduate course of study. The recipient receives a $10,000 stipend to write an original screenplay and is mentored throughout the fellowship by a prominent screenwriter.
The fellowship is sponsored by the Writers Guild of America, East, the membership union of professional writers in film, radio, and television.
Binghamton University is one of 16 schools selected to nominate a graduating senior for this fellowship.
The nominee will be expected to complete the requirements for an undergraduate degree in the institutional area—English, film, television, communications, or related media studies—that contains the appropriate screenwriting coursework. No specific major is required.
Emphasis will be placed on students with feature film projects, which are character driven and personal in nature.

A committee of Harpur College faculty members will review the applicants and select one to be the University’s nominee for the Collyer Fellowship.
