Inside Health Services

ABOUT US

University Health Service provides currently registered Binghamton University students with primary care of acute illness and injury, health education, women’s health services (including birth control), sports and travel medicine, immunizations, HIV testing, psychiatric consultation and laboratory services. All Binghamton University students are eligible to visit University Health Service. All services are confidential.

No charge for office visits

The mandatory health fee all students pay as part of their tuition covers many of the services at the University Health Service. There may be charges for some services provided such as laboratory services, some immunizations and emergency contraception. All services provided outside University Health Service are the student’s responsibility. See Free or Fees and Health Insurance for additional information about coverage and costs.

Qualified, friendly staff

Our clinical staff includes registered nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, health educators and an HIV test counselor. Students may choose walk-in care (8–11 a.m.) or call ahead for an appointment (1–3:45 p.m.). See Appointment or Walk-In for additional information.

Three hospitals nearby

When needed, University Health Service refers students to nearby hospitals (Lourdes Hospital, Wilson Medical Center and Binghamton General Hospital). A number of walk-in clinics [HEALTH1.3.3] in Greater Binghamton offer evening and weekend hours for non-emergency care when the Health Service is closed.

Ambulance service available

Harpur’s Ferry, a student-run ambulance service, provides emergency medical care and transportation 24 hours a day when classes are in session. The ambulance is staffed by certified emergency medical technicians, advanced EMTs and personnel certified in advanced first aid. Students on and off campus are eligible for this free service by calling 777-3333.

We’re accredited

The University Health Service is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare. This accreditation recognizes the superb care we deliver to students.
