The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the State University of New York. It consists of 17 members, 15 of whom are appointed by the Governor, by and with consent of the New York State Senate. The State Comptroller is New York State's chief fiscal officer. The Comptroller is charged with auditing government operations and operating the Statewide Retirement Systems.
The New York State Department of Civil Service is the central personnel agency for New York State and local governments.
The New York State Commission on Public Integrity, established by the Public Employee Ethics Reform Act of 2007, is charged with administering and enforcing the State's ethics and lobbying laws as well as the State's anti-nepotism law and laws pertaining to certain political activities and improper influence.
