The U.S. Department of State has announced that due to a computer programming error, the recently run 2012 Diversity Lottery (“Green Card Lottery”) must be repeated. The results of the lottery were posted to the Department of State’s website in early May. But the results have been removed. The problem was due to a computer programming error that did not allow the selection process to be made randomly. As a result, a new selection process will be done, with the results posted around July 15, 2011.
All of the applicants who filed timely for the 2012 visa lottery will be re-entered to participate in the new selection process. No additional filings will be permitted.
