Dual Diploma Student Program
Check-In for Orientation will take place on Monday, August 19, from 8:30am - 1:30pm in the University Union Old Union Hall. At Check-In you will receive your Orientation Packet and the full Program for Orientation.
If you arrive after 1:30 pm but before 4:00 pm you will want to go to the Office of New Student Programs in the C-4 Collegiate Center in the Newing Residential area to check in.
If you arrive after 4:00pm and are uncertain of where to go, check with the University Police, G-35 Couper Administration Building (entrance at the rear of building, ground floor), or call 607-777-2393. That office can give you a schedule of events for orientation and will direct you to where you need to go. Orientation events for undergraduate students end at 7:30pm on Monday, August 19.
You can check in after Monday, August 19 at the Office of New Student Programs, in the C-4 Collegiate Center in the Newing Residential area during regular business hours. Be sure to tell the staff that you are an international student.

Decker Student Health Services Center is located on the East Access Road.

Staff from the Office of International Student and Scholar Services will review your immigration documents and sign them. These opportunities are offered only during Fall 2013 Orientation.
Because starting school without adequate preparation may be confusing, Orientation is a very important element in the transition that you will soon be making.
The three days of Fall 2013 International Student Orientation are devoted to your concerns as a new international student. It will provide you with a foundation for academic success, an understanding of the U.S. immigration regulations with which you must comply, and an opportunity to take care of essential requirements. International Orientation also provides ample opportunity to meet informally with "veteran" international and U.S. students, learn from their experiences and make new friends. Even if you have attended another U.S. university and participated in an orientation program there, you will find Fall 2013 Orientation essential - and fun. Each school has different methods for meeting students' needs and it is much easier to meet people and get things done before everyone gets busy with classes in the fall.
In addition to University staff and faculty, Orientation Advisers (OAs) and Leadership Volunteers (LVs) help throughout the program to introduce you to the University. The OAs and LVs are current students, international and US citizens, who have participated in extensive training and are valuable sources of information. They serve as your guides, answer your questions, take you on campus tours and lead small-group discussions. They provide friendly faces for you during Orientation. You will be introduced to the OAs and LVs on the first day of the program.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION
New international students are required to take a short English language proficiency examination during Orientation. You can take this exam Monday Aug 19th, 2013 1 p.m. in University Union Lecture Hall 1 or Aug 21st 9:00-11:00am, at LH 001

Note: Even if your acceptance letter from your program says you achieved English Proficiency, if your TOEFL score is below 95 (Internet-Based), you are still required to take this diagnostic exam. This diagnostic test helps students determine which courses are the most useful to them in the first semester.
