UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE STUDENTS

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25

9:00am Welcome Breakfast and Exchange Student Orientation Meeting
            Hinman Commons

All Undergraduate exchange students must attend this meeting with Office of International Programs staff. Meeting starts at 9:00am

9:00am-Noon Check-In for Orientation
                    University Union, Tillman Lobby

Be sure to Check-In and pick up your Orientation packet

9:00am-4:00pm Check-in with Decker Student Health Services Center
                       Decker Student Health Services Center, East Access Road

You may check in with staff from Decker Student Health Services Center, today. If you have not yet submitted your Medical History Report Form, please bring it so it can be reviewed. To avoid delays, fill-out your Medical History Report Form before you go to Decker Student Health Services Center. http://www2.binghamton.edu/health/document/med_history_form_311.pdf

You can purchase your lunch on campus with US Dollars or US credit card.

                       Anderson Center Concert Theater

During this session, you will be welcomed and receive an overview of the program.

4:30pm-5:30pm Introductory Meeting for all International Students
                       University Union Room 111

This important meeting will be an opportunity to meet other International Students and to become familiar with the culture you will encounter in the United States. We will also review for you the characteristics of academic life at universities in the United States and answer your questions. If you attended a school previously in the US, this meeting will give you an opportunity to meet ISSS staff and learn about Binghamton University.

5:30pm-6:30pm Welcome Dinner for All International Students
                       University Union, Old Union Hall

                       (You will need your name tag to enter this dinner)
Welcoming dinner for new international students and University guests. Your Orientation name tag is your meal ticket for this meal.

6:40pm-7:10pm Healthy Living
                        Males: University Union Room 209 & Females: University Union Room120

Enjoy this interactive game with some of your new friends while learning about having healthy relationships on campus.

7:20pm-8:45pm “Click-In” Binghamton
                        Watters Theater

Get an introduction to life as a Binghamton student through this interactive adventure. A small-group discussion with your OA follows.

9:00pm-11:00pm Late Nite Binghamton
                         University Union Undergrounds

Come to the Union with your new friends to enjoy music, games, and food and have fun!

THURSDAY, JANUARY 26

7:30am-9:00am Breakfast
                        University Union Mandela Room (You will need your Orientation name tag)

9:00am-4:00pm Check-in with Decker Student Health Services Center

FRIDAY, JANUARY 27

7:30am-9:00am Breakfast
                    Susquehanna Room, University Union
Students can use their student meal-plan to purchase their breakfast. You will need to bring your student ID with you. If you live off campus and have not purchased a Sodexo meal plan, you can purchase your meal with US dollars or a US credit card.

                         University Union, Old Union Hall

All international students are expected to attend this meeting.
Discussions in both sessions feature current international students, BU faculty and staff, Orientation Assistants and International Student Volunteers.

9:30amSession 1- What You Need to Know About Binghamton University:
This is “How To Get Good Grades” strategy and planning session. Learn what is expected of you academically:

10:00am Session 2- Strategies for Success at a US University:
Any international student who has not studied in the U.S. needs to attend this important session. International Students who studied in the U.S. will also find this session a useful refresher on key skills for study in the United States.
Learn about the differences between Binghamton University and your home University system from a panel of successful international students:

Discussions of characteristics typical of Binghamton University classrooms

11:30am - Lunch
               College in the Woods Dining Hall, College in the Woods or Susquehanna Room in University Union

1:00pm-2:30pm Bureaucratic Essentials for all International Students
                        University Union, Old Union Hall

**Bring all your Immigration Documents to this event**
All new international students are expected to attend this event to have their immigration documents reviewed, signed and copied.
Be sure to bring your passport, I-94 Departure Card, SEVIS Fee Receipt if you have one and SEVIS I-20 or DS-2019 to this meeting. If you have more than one SEVIS I-20 bring all the I-20s you have to this meeting. All students also need to bring the green New Student Biographical Data Form to this meeting.

2:30pm-4:30pm International Student Meeting
                        University Union, Old Union Hall

All international students are expected to attend this meeting.
Ellen Badger, Director of the Office of International Student and Scholar Services, Karen Keefe-Guzikowski, Associate Director and Shawna Szabo, Assistant Director, will meet with you to discuss current federal Immigration Regulations governing the activities of students in F-1 or J-1 visa status. You will also get to meet the staff of the International Student Health Insurance Team, Terry Creeden, Coordinator and Lorraine Medionte, Staff Assistant, who will explain how to use your Health Insurance.
