Nelson J. López is from El Salvador, Central America, where he obtained his first degrees in ESL and in Translation from Universidad de El Salvador. He earned his M.A. in Foreign Languages and Literatures, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Latin America with emphsis on Brazil from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. López is the Associate Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Area Studies Program (LACAS). He is active in online education. He incorporates LxC in his LACAS classes to make the students more active with their linguistic skills, and to bring a global perspective to the classroom. LACAS obtained the first online O (Oral GenEd) for his class "Latin American Realities through Films." He is a doctoral candidate for TRIP.
