University of Houston Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship at the University of Houston (SURF-UH) seeks to provide funding for rising UH sophomores, juniors and seniors to participate in a focused ten-week research experience under the direction of UH faculty. (For instance, this means that current freshmen that will be sophomores in fall 2006 are eligible to apply for the fellowship.) The program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to participate in a full-time research program. No course credit will be offered for participation in this program.

UH Computer Science REU
The University of Houston Department of Computer Science will conduct a 10-week Summer research program for undergraduate students in 2006. The program is designed to infuse qualified undergraduates with enthusiasm toward both graduate level education and a career in research. Participants will make important contributions to the Department's ongoing research efforts. Students selected for participation in this program will receive a stipend of $3,000. Students will receive room and board in an on-campus university dormitory as well as a travel allowance to offset transportation costs.

UH-REU in Materials Chemistry
The Center for Materials Chemistry offers undergraduates the opportunity to perform cutting edge research in materials chemistry during a nine-week in-residence program at the University of Houston. Hands-on laboratory research is emphasized. With the help of their research advisor and mentor, students learn how to plan and perform experiments, use modern instrumentation, analyze data, give informal and formal scientific presentations, write scientific reports, and work independently and as members of a team. The student research projects are designed to allow for significant results to be obtained within the nine-week program.
Students participating in the CMC-UH REU program receive a $4000 stipend, rent-free housing, and three hours of University of Houston course credit for Independent Studies in Materials Chemistry, for which the REU program pays all tuition and fees.
UH-REU Mathematical Biology
Applications are solicited by undergraduate students interested in research experience in mathematical biology. Priority will be given to students with a strong interest and background in mathematics and in biology. Students in their Junior or Senior years are welcome to apply. A stipend of $6,000/year will be offered to the best qualified candidates.
UH-AGEP
The Summer 2006 program will run June 5-August 11, 2006. Applications are due on April 7, 2006. All research must be conducted under the supervision of a UH faculty advisor. We wish to sponsor 25 undergraduates and 25 graduates this year. The anticipated stipend will be $4000 for undergraduates and $4500 + benefits for graduate students. Undergraduates will be expected to work full-time although some accommodation can be made for those taking a class. Current graduate students will be paid as a half-time GA and must register and pay for a full summer load of classes.

Hispanic Scholarships
DaimlerChrysler believes that everyone should have access to educational opportunities and that all parents, regardless of ethnic background, want the best for their children. This link is to the DaimlerChrysler 2001-2002 Guide to Hispanic Financial Aid Opportunities, which lists hundreds of scholarships, grants and other financial aid sources targeting Latino students.
This program offers STEM undergraduates mentored internship experiences at NASA Centers and research support facilities. Students may apply for a 10-week summer session or a 15-week spring or fall session. Students will receive a $6,000 (10-week summer session) or $9,000(15-week spring or fall session) stipend for the research experience plus transportation allowance to and from the NASA Host Center.
