What is the LSAMP Summer Research Internship Program?
The LSAMP Summer Research Internship Program is an 8 week paid summer internship here at Binghamton University, during which you will work as a Research Assistant on a faculty-designed research project, at least 30 hours a week.
How many LSAMP Summer Research Internship positions are available?
There are 5-8 LSAMP Summer Research Internship positions available.
Who can apply to the LSAMP Summer Research Internship Program?
Any one who qualifies for LSAMP can apply to the LSAMP Summer Research Internship Program.
What are the qualifications for LSAMP?
To qualify for LSAMP you are/have:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math (STEM).
- Interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math (STEM).
- A U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
LSAMP is funded to increase the number of underrepresented minorities (African-American, Latino, Native American, Alaskan Native, Hawaiian Native, and Native Pacific Islander) who pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

What is the application deadline?
LSAMP has rolling admissions and accepts applications year round. However, the Summer Research Internship has an early consideration application deadline of Friday, February 28, 2014, after that date applications will be accepted until all internship positions are filled.

Please note: you will need to paste/submit a short essay (500 words or less) explaining why you should be accepted as a Summer Research Intern. Please be sure to include an explanation if there is a particular faculty member with whom you would like to work this summer. Also include if the faculty member is willing to supervise your work.
