Welcome to the McNair Scholars Program at Binghamton University.
The McNair Scholars Program was authorized by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to memorialize the achievements of Dr. Ronald E. McNair.
The McNair Scholars Program also know as the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is one of the Federal TRiO programs. The Federal TRiO Programs are educational opportunity outreach programs designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRiO includes six outreach and support programs targeted to serve and assist low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs. The McNair Program is designed to increase the numbers of low-income, first generation and/or underrepresented minority students attending graduate school and receiving their doctorate. There are currently 179 McNair Programs across the country.
The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program prepares participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. Participants are from disadvantaged backgrounds and have demonstrated strong academic potential.
Students that want to go to graduate school to ultimately earn a Phd are our focus.
