Dr. Chiarot received the BASc, MASc, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. From 2008 to 2009, he was a post doctoral research associate at the University of Rochester. Dr. Chiarot has published over a dozen papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings; and his work has been featured by the Institute of Physics. He has one issued US patent and several pending patent applications. Dr. Chiarot has collaborated with large and small private sector companies, including Eastman Kodak. He has held the Glynn Williams Fellowship and the NSERC Post Graduate Scholarship.

Dr. Chiarot joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2011 where he directs the Microfluidics and Multiphase Flow Laboratory. His research interests include: advanced manufacturing using continuous ink jet technology and electrospray deposition, electrospray engines for microsatellite propulsion, microfluidic devices for high-throughput single cell studies, and point-of-care bio-sensing using miniaturized ion mobility spectrometry.
