Teaching/Research Focus: Vibration and acoustic measurements, MEMS characterization, biomechanics
Quang Su is a world-class specialist in the field of acoustic and vibration measurement and characterization. Dr. Su earned his B.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York Binghamton and has spent over 12 years in this field, focusing on silicon micro-acoustic sensors and structures. His expertise includes signal processing and controls, modal analysis, parameter estimation, fixture design and fabrication, automated data acquisition, and structural failure and defect analysis. In addition, Dr. Su is co-PI on an interdisciplinary project that investigates sound and vibration sensing in insects through laser vibrometry and acoustic measurements. This collaborative effort brings together behavioral ecology, neurobiology, computational modeling, and mechanical engineering. Dr. Su is also investigating the vibration reliability of circuit assemblies as co-PI on an industrially sponsored project.
