Dr. Towfighian earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Iran), and Ryerson University (Canada), respectively. She received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Canada) in 2011, and pursued her one year postdoctoral fellowship at Ryerson University and University of Toronto. She has authored numerous journal and conference papers and she has been the technical reviewer for 2013 IEEE CDC and 2013 American control conferences. She joined the department in 2013. Her research focuses on investigating the dynamics and vibration of microelectromechanical system (MEMS) and nanolectromechanical system (NEMS) for applications in energy harvesting, biosensors, and endoscopic applications. Dr. Towfighian has been the recipient of highly competitive awards and scholarships in Canada including NSERC postgraduate scholarship, OGS, and MITACS postdoctoral fellowship.
