Many of our faculty have developed new research foci on applying mechanical engineering design and analysis principles toward biological and healthcare applications by forming interdisciplinary research partnerships. Current research activities include investigation of microfluidic devices for cancer biology, single-molecule protein and DNA dynamics, wound-dressing and prevention of infection, miniature directional hearing aids, and remote robotic surgery.
