Holiday Concert Showcases Orchestra, Soloists, Chorus
Carols, Klezmer and choir combine as the Binghamton University Symphony Orchestra and Chorus under conductor Timothy Perry present a holiday gala, “Winter Lights,” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Osterhout Concert Theater. Featured on the program of seasonal, Christmas and Hanukkah music will be the music faculty soloists Janey Choi, violin, and baritone Timothy LeFebvre. As a special treat, the orchestra and chorus will present a new Hanukkah medley arranged by Edward Marcus with guest artist Robin Seletsky, Klezmer clarinet. Tickets are $10 general public; $5 faculty, staff and seniors; and free for students and are available at the Anderson Center Box Office from noon-5:30 p.m. weekdays, by calling 777-ARTS, online at http://anderson.binghamton.edu or at the door. Wind Symphony Concert to Feature Student Conductors
The Binghamton University Wind Symphony, conducted by Robert G. Smith, will present its free fall semester concert, “The Symphonic Wind Music of David Holsinger,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in the Osterhout Concert Theater. Two student conductors will also take the podium: undergraduate conductor Ephraim Atkinson and graduate wind conducting student and assistant conductor Kimberly Metaxas. Science II Loading Dock Re-Opens Today
The Science II loading dock will re-open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. It will be closed again Monday, Dec. 8 and re-open Tuesday, Dec. 9. Alumni Bus Trip to a Buffalo Bills Game
Join the Alumni Association and watch the Buffalo Bills play the New England Patriots at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park on Sunday, Dec. 28. The cost is $90 and includes round-trip charter, tailgating on the bus and before the game, and game ticket (sec 307, row 30-32, gate 6). The group will depart from the East Gym parking lot at 6:45 a.m. and return following the game at about 10 p.m. Register by Dec. 12 at 777-2424. Anthropology Talk Friday
Dawnie Steadman, associate professor of anthropology, will discuss “Mass Graves and Human Rights Investigations: Forensic Contexts and Political Obstruction” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in S2-145 as part of the series “The Research Process in Anthropology.”
Poster Presentations Today
Students from BIOL105, “Evolution for Everyone,” will present poster projects about a variety of topics from 1:15-2:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, in the Susquehanna Room and adjacent areas. Refreshments will be served.
