Alumni Career Network available online
The Office of Alumni and Parent Relations and the Career Development Center have made the Alumni Career Network available online.
The Online Alumni Career Network is a searchable database of more than 2,000 Binghamton alumni who have volunteered to be contacted by students and alumni regarding career information. Network volunteers can provide students with directions on how to pursue their first job or apply for graduate school.
Although the network is not an employment or placement program, it is designed to aid students who are not sure of what to do with a major, are curious about a particular career or need advise about finding a job or internship.
Students can search the database according to their career goals, academic aspirations and geographic preferences.
The network is available under the career network tab on the BUSI website at busi.binghamton.edu
Walkers, runners needed for AMA Walk Run
The BU team for the American Heart Association Heart Walk Run is in need of additional walkers and runners for its event Saturday, April 24, at Binghamton High School.
Heart disease is now the number one killer of both American women and men. Participants can join an existing team, start their own team and become a team captain, participate as an individual or donate to an existing team or individual.

BU to host kids science camp
The Professional Development and Research (PDR) arm of the School of Education and Human Development, in partnership with the Vestal School Foundation, GE Elfun Volunteers-Binghamton Subchapter, and a number of community supporters, will offer a summer science camp for children in August. The Kids Explore! camp will offer an inquiry-based science experience for children in grades 1 to 7, providing hands-on activities for four age levels along specific scientific themes. Students will work with University faculty in the field and in labs to explore scientific investigations. The camp will be held Monday, August 16 through Friday, August 20. Programs will feature four areas of exploration. Grades 1 and 2 will focus on the planet of life; grades 3 and 4 will investigate body mysteries; grades 4 and 5 will explore imagination and invention; and grades 5, 6 and 7 will focus on engineering. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with morning and afternoon science activities. The cost per child is $195. Cinema offers spring film, video series
The Department of Cinema will offer a spring film and video artists’ series until Tuesday, April 27. Each presentation will be offered at 8 p.m. in LH-6.
The series includes: Tuesday, March 30, Depression in the Bay of Bengal, Five Bed Elements and India Rolls; Monday, April 19, The Back Steps, Wood, Water Seeking its Level, Fall, Pink Socks, Evaporation, 37th & Lex and A Private Happiness; and Tuesday April 27, Recent Digital Videos and Early Films.

Annual Shabbat dinner to gather Jewish groups
BU Jewish groups will for the seventh year host their largest annual gathering, which they hope will bring together many Jewish students, faculty and community members.
Shabbat for a Thousand, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, in the East Gym, aims at gathering 1,000 Jewish students together for a free dinner, songs and Shabbat ritual.
The event is funded by an annual grant from the Elaine Heumann Memorial Foundation, and is co-sponsored by the Chabad House Jewish Student Center, Hillel-JSU and the Jewish Heritage Program.

Ruby Wang art exhibition presented at BU
An exhibit featuring the work of Ruby H. Wang will open Thursday, April 1, in the Art Museum. Wang is a leading Chinese-American artist and former Southern Tier resident. An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Wang, a native of Nanjiing, China, received formal training in Chinese landscape painting from Taiwan Normal University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. Combining the contrasts of Eastern and Western cultures in her paintings, Wang’s works can be found in such corporate and public collections as IBM, Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, St. Johns’ University, as well as private collections throughout the United States,the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Australia and Bermuda.
Wang has exhibited her paintings in the East and West Gallery in Victoria, Australia; the Chung-shan Gallery in Beijing, China; and the Pennsylvania State University in Scranton, Pa. She has taught at the Nanjing Teacher’s College, Taiwan Normal University and while a Binghamton resident, taught workshops at the University and in the Binghamton community. Wang resides in Torrance, Calif.

NYSEG sponsors case competition
New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) will once again sponsor the School of Management’s annual MBA Case Competition from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 26, in AA-G08 to test the skills of second-year MBA students on the analysis and presentation of business cases.
Earlier this month, approximately 13 teams of students were given a business case to review. After a week of preparation, the teams participated in first-round judging, resulting in three teams moving to the final round.
A panel of judges selected from the business community will adjudicate the final round. The panel includes Michael Eastman, vice president of corporate performance for NYSEG; Michael J. DeStefano, partner in the New York metropolitan area of Ernst and Young LLP; Stephen VanNostrand, executive vice president of Raymond Corporation; John Saraceno, senior vice president of BSB Bank & Trust; and Laurie Linn, president of Communiqué Design and Marketing, Inc.
