Ross Fund seeks applicants for grants
Applications for the 2006
grant cycle of the Stephen David
Ross University and Community
Projects Fund are now
available.
Ross, a Binghamton University
faculty member, established
a fund to support collaborative
university-community projects
that promote creative and innovative
cooperation between the
University and local nonprofit
agencies.
Previously funded projects
include a partnership between
the Binghamton City School
District and the University Nature
Preserve, a mentoring program
for adolescents, the restoration
of a local bronze landmark,
an interactive sculpture
project, a curriculum on acceptance
and respect for elementary
school students and a fivelanguage
orientation booklet for
refugees.
Grant applications in the
range of $5,000 to $10,000 are
encouraged. In 2006, the fund
will award $10,000 in grants to
nonprofit organizations in partnership
with University units.
The application deadline is
noon Friday, April 7.

Council/Foundation Award nominations requested
The Council/Foundation
Award for service to the University
is the combined award
of the Binghamton University
Council and the Binghamton
University Foundation, presented
annually to individuals from
the University community.
Up to three awards are given,
one each to a faculty or staff
member and a student, who
have served the University with
outstanding dedication and
who have provided exemplary
service and/or leadership to the
University.
Recipients receive a $1,000
check and a certificate during
the fall Excellence Awards Dinner.
Nominations should include
the following information: name
of nominee, current status,
resume and additional background
information, a statement
of why the nominee merits
the award (up to one typed
page), and a minimum of three
letters of support.

2131. All nominations will remain
confidential and are due
by March 20, 2006.

Payroll Center adds hours
The Payroll Distribution
Center (UU-105, Main Lobby)
has added service hours for
Student Assistant, Federal College
Work Study and Research
Foundation employees to claim
their paychecks or direct deposit
slips.
In addition to the regular
hours of 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday; 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Wednesday; and 9-11 a.m. on
Research Foundation Payday
for RF employees only, the Payroll
Distribution Center will be
open from 4:30-6 p.m. the following
Tuesdays: Feb. 7 and
21, March 7 and 21, April 4 and
18 and May 2, 16 and 30.
