Soccer team loses in tournament’s first round
Binghamton lost in the first round of the NCAA Division 1 men’s soccer tournament.

Harvard’s Andre Akpan netted the game-winning goal with 11:01 remaining in regulation, leading the Crimson (14-4-0) to a 2-1 win over the visiting Bearcats (9-7-5) on Nov. 11.

The Bearcats led 1-0 at the half but could not hold back a Crimson attack that led the nation in goals per game this season.

“I’m disappointed with the outcome of the game but I thought our guys played well against a very tough opponent,” head coach Paul Marco said. “(Harvard’s) special guys came through in the end. It’s a disappointing end to the season, but I am very proud of our senior class and all that they have accomplished.”

Delviscio holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northeastern University.

He moved from Los Angeles to Binghamton with his wife and their 18-month-old son.
