Time to ‘Pick a Seat’ in Events Center

Members of the Binghamton University Athletic Club and season ticket holders are being given the chance to “Pick a Seat” in the new Events Center to watch the Bearcats’ upcoming basketball games.

Ticket holders will have the opportunity to pick their seat Saturday, December 6, in the West Gym lobby. Appointment times are assigned based on a person’s priority point ranking or the date of the ticket purchase. Athletic Club members will receive priority in the selection of seats because of their contributions to scholarships and other donations, said Bette Anne Gaube, who is coordinating the seating.

Current season ticket holders will receive second priority and recent ticket buyers will be able to reserve the remaining available choice seats in the new Events Center, which will seat about 4,500 spectators this season.

Basketball games are scheduled to begin in the new venue in January after they relocate from the West Gym, which only seats 2,275 people, Gaube said. The Events Center will grow to approximately 6,000 seats with the installation of additional bleachers.

Season tickets and packages are still available for purchase. Prices will be determined when the opening day of the Events Center is announced, based on the remaining games in the season. For more information, call 777-SLAM.

“We expect to fill the seats,” Gaube said. “We’ve been getting great support from everybody.”
