INSIDE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
January 31 marks first Events Center basketball game
The first women’s game in the facility will be played Saturday, February 7, against the University of Maine. Until the move, all home games will continue to be played in the West Gym.
“We’re very excited about the move,” DeFleur said. “The Events Center will provide a perfect venue to showcase the athletic talents of our basketball teams and to welcome the community to our campus. We have been able to open the building for basketball ahead of its full completion because of the cooperation between the State University Construction Fund, Welliver McGuire contractors and our Physical Facilities department.”
The completion of Phase I work will bring the basketball courts, training rooms and locker rooms on line, as well as concessions, a media room, the box office, a gift shop and seating for 4,600. Phase II work, which will be ready for fall 2004, will see completion of strength and conditioning rooms, the remainder of the locker rooms, coaches’ offices, the addition of north-end bleachers and some special box seating. For more information on tickets, call the basketball box office at 777-SLAM (7526).
