Hall among 35 invited to attend international workplace conference

Sylvia Hall, director of human resources, is among the 35 business, management and academic officials who have been invited to attend an international think tank to address issues in the workplace.

Hall will attend the Oxford Round Table in Great Britain in March. The Oxford University conference was designed to provide a forum for educational issues and promote human advancement and understanding through the improvement of education.

“If you are from a successful university or school district and the subject is germane to what you do, then you might be the person who is invited,” Hall said. “This came out of the blue. I’m definitely going.”

Past attendees have included ministers of education, governors, members of Parliament and top corporate officials. Among its past topics, the forum has addressed women’s rights, sexual harassment, human rights and employment law.

Nominations for participation are anonymous. Before attending the meeting, Hall must write a paper on employment law, sexual harassment or human rights. She said she’s looking forward to discussing textbook theories versus real-life experiences. “I’m very excited about it.”
