Work continues at the complex, which will include four residence halls and a collegiate center. Marcy and Hunter halls opened earlier this fall and now house approximately 600 students.
LeChase Construction Inc. plans to have Windham and Cascade halls enclosed by Thanksgiving, weather permitting. The contractor also expects to have the Appalachian Collegiate Center enclosed by Christmas.
Most recently, LeChase completed the roof of the two halls and ended underground utility work. Workers are now beginning plumbing and electrical work inside the two residential halls.
LeChase is in the process of pouring concrete for the floors. Construction activity has also focused on erecting walls and partitions. Masonry work is underway on interior and exterior portions of the two residential halls.
The last pieces of structural steel were installed last week for the collegiate center. Underground utility work has been completed and a number of concrete pours for the floors of the building will take place during the next two weeks.
Working is also continuing at the Events Center, where construction crews have begun assembling bleachers. During the past few weeks, thousands of bleacher parts have arrived in several tractor-trailer deliveries.
Bleacher parts have been laid out on the center's floor and are being pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle. The assembly is expected to take several weeks.
A scoreboard and portable basketball floor are in production and are expected to arrive during December, along with a curtain system that will allow partitioning.
Locker rooms, hallways and meeting rooms will have floor finishes installed and railings are being constructed on the upper concourse. Exterior doors and the roof near the ticket area are scheduled for completion in early December.
