Killeleagh to speak during 2004 Graduate School Commencement


Melissa Killeleagh, a master of public administration (MPA) candidate with a 3.91 GPA, will speak at the Graduate School Commencement ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 16.

Student Sean Lebowitz will speak at the ceremony for Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at 9 a.m. Sunday, while Justin Hoch will speak at the ceremony for the professional schools at 1:30 p.m. For profiles on Lebowitz and Hoch, see pages 4-7.

Killeleagh, who is from Ithaca, earned her BA from Ithaca College in 1999 and has served as a graduate assistant for the MPA program for two years. In her role as a graduate assistant, she assisted with course material preparation and curriculum development, prepared papers for publication and conferences and coordinated events and professional opportunities for graduate students.

Killeleagh also works as a consultant providing job-coaching and team-building exercises for individuals and organizations in the public and nonprofit sectors. Her consulting work includes assessing the performance of organizations and assisting in strategic planning efforts, facilitating meetings and organizing professional development and leadership opportunities. She worked for AmeriCorps in San Francisco before coming to Binghamton. Since then she has been president of the Graduate Student Organization and served on several committees for the Village at Ithaca Initiative, as well as the Public Service and Outreach Committee at Binghamton. Killeleagh received the Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Service and Outreach this year and was nominated for the All-AmeriCorps Millennium Award in 2000.
