Senior Class to surpass challenge goal
“This feels amazing that we have had such great support,” said senior class President Maria Pendolino. “The Class of 1994 challenged us to raise $8,000 but we hope to surpass it. This has really been an exciting fundraising campaign all year.”
Earlier this month, the class hosted Senior Week — successfully selling BU mugs and T-shirts and generating approximately $5,000 in sales that it hopes to contribute to the Senior Challenge. “We completely sold out of mugs,” Pendolino said. “T-shirt sales were skyrocketing during the week.” With that contribution, the class will exceed its intended goal.
Initially, the class aimed at raising $8,000 to support the lighting of the Memorial Courtyard — which was unveiled last week — and decorative needs such as banners for the Events Center. Funds raised following Commencement will provide additional support for the projects at both sites.
“The money we made is going to completely support our fundraising campaign,” she said. “We wanted to support the campus and now we are going to be able to give more than we thought.”
Pendolino said the class also “wanted to leave its mark” on the Events Center since it was the first graduating class to hold Commencement in the building. “This way when people walk into the Events Center they will know they are in Bearcat territory.”
