INSIDE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
Dousmanis exhibit places spotlight on University’s evolution
For nearly 10 years, Dousmanis has captured and defined the image of the University, recording the daily life and major events that have marked Binghamton University’s milestones. He was hired as the University photographer in January 1995, as Binghamton was preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Since he arrived at BU, the campus has seen unprecedented growth, not only in its physical landscape, but also in its academic and research mission, its national stature and its community connections. Dousmanis has recorded it all.
“I think this is a good opportunity for all of us to stand back for a moment and see where the University has come over the last decade,” said Dousmanis. “It’s been fun for me. I’ve lived it every day.”
In recognition of Dousmanis’s contributions to shaping the school’s image, the University Art Museum and the Binghamton Foundation have collaborated on the exhibit and a book of his photography. The 144-page hardcover book includes both color and black-and-white photographs.
