The Binghamton University Athletic Hall of Fame added three new members Friday, October 8.

Former standouts Sarah Bunting (cross country and track, 1992-96), Lauren Caiaccia (volleyball, basketball and track, 1992-95) and Andy Szalaji (soccer, 1986-87) were formally inducted at the ninth annual ceremony, celebrated by nearly 100 guests in the West Gym foyer.

The group, chosen from a list of 36 nominees, raises the total number of Hall of Fame members to 51.

“We are all so proud of our intercollegiate athletics program, and tonight’s inductees paved the way for that success,” said University President Lois B. DeFleur.

“We do it the right way at Binghamton. Our student-athletes are leaders on campus and you see those qualities exemplified with tonight’s inductees. We are very grateful to them.”

The former student-athletes share a common bond of both individual achievement and unparalleled team success.

Each led his or her team to the best season(s) in their sport’s history, and the group amassed four All-America and a pair of BU Athlete of the Year honors. A voting committee of 13 alumni, coaches, student-athletes and staff made the final selections.
