INSIDE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
Filmakers host animal rights documentary, discussion
The film will be followed by a question-and-answer session with filmmakers James LaVeck and Jenny Stein. Also in attendance will be one of the film’s subjects, Howard Lyman, a fourth-generation rancher who quit farming and wrote the book, Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won’t Eat Meat.
Peaceable Kingdom profiles ordinary people whose lives have taken an extra-ordinary turn as they uncover and expose the injustices around the use of animals in industry. At a time when public health concerns around factory farming practices are at a peak, Peaceable Kingdom offers firsthand testimony from family and factory farmers who break generations of silence about how things on the farm have gone terribly wrong.
The screening is being hosted by students in the Binghamton Scholars program. For more information, contact Francine Montemurro at monte@binghamton.edu, George Catalano at catalano@binghamton.edu or call 777-2388.
