Watson School hosts regional engineering conference
“Engineering on the Edge: Engineering in the New Century,” will bring together industry and academic leaders to address the recently published report: The Engineer of 2020: Visions of Engineering in the New Century. Keynote speaker Sharon Nunes, vice president of technology for IBM’s Corporate Technology and Manufacturing Group, will open the conference, focusing on “21st Century Engineering: Who’ll Be in Demand for Our On-Demand World?” An industry panel, with representatives from BAE Systems Control Platform Solutions, Dover Technologies, IBM, GE Global Research, Lockheed Martin Systems Integration and McFarland-Johnson, will follow her address
The conference will also include a student competition, with teams competing to solve a previously unreleased problem with existing tools and materials presented to them. Each team will be allotted a set time to identify, design and develop a competitive solution to a given challenge.
The St. Lawrence section of the ASEE includes 45 accredited engineering programs in New York and Canada. For more information on the conference, visit
