East Gym renovation to be put to a vote
By : Katie Ellis

Last fall, in anticipation of a renovation, the University solicited input from the student body and used one-time monies to hire Beardsley Design Associates (BDA) to develop a program and spatial concept for an East Gym extreme makeover — the starting point that provides an outline and the associated costs reorganizing and renovating the space.
If the referendum is approved, BDA or another architectural firm will be hired to refine the concepts to fit with mechanical systems, code, circulation and other building requirements within the established budget. They will also be responsible for producing the final drawings that will be used for construction of the addition and renovation.
Students will continue to be involved in the design process until a design is finalized. The design process is expected to take about nine months, with renovation and construction to be completed in one to two years.
