Nine Binghamton students honored with Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence
Those recognized were: Gerry Keith Chan, Mordechai Nemes, Matthew Schneider and Krishna Vallabhaneni from the School of Management; Ravi Gupta from Harpur College of Arts and Sciences; and Elizabeth Austin, Tracy Curtis and Letitia Moffitt from the Graduate School. They are among 264 graduating students from 60 SUNY campuses being recognized.
“The recipients of this year’s Chancellor’s Award are not only some of the brightest and hardest working students in SUNY, but have made major contributions to their communities,” said Chancellor Richard King. “They represent the enduring commitment the university has made to attracting and nurturing a diverse, intelligent student body. The commitment our students make every day to themselves and their community is an inspiring achievement. They are our future, and that future is bright.”
Recipients were selected by campus committees, who reviewed exemplary members of their college com-munities who are graduating. Nominations were submitted to the Chancellor’s Office.
The awards are presented annually and are based on the student’s outstanding academic record and signi-ficant contributions to the University community. Each honoree has excelled in academic achievement and at least one of the following areas: leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts or career achievement. Recipients are given a framed certificate and medallion, which may be worn at Commencement.
