2005 Homecoming celebration will look back at the Eighties
This year’s theme is “Back to the Eighties,” and will offer a variety of events and activities for students, alumni and members of the University community. In the days leading up to the weekend celebration, the Homecoming committee has planned a blood drive, a ‘Paint the Paws’ spirit contest and a karaoke challenge.
On Friday, Oct. 21, alumni athletes will be honored at the Hall of Fame dinner in the West Gym. Festivities move to the Events Center at 11 p.m. for Late Nite Madness, celebrating the first official practice allowed for Division I men’s and women’s basketball teams.
On Saturday, Oct. 21, the popular “Brain Train” parade will meander around campus, ending in the Peace Quad for the start of Baxter’s Bearcat Barbecue, featuring music, food and freebies. All campus departments, offices and groups are invited to create a float or march in the parade.
Other activities will include the office decorating challenge, the Greek God contest, the Black Student Union fashion show, a student variety show, fireworks and a weekend full of special reunion celebrations for alumni.
