Record setting year for Senior Challenge
The Class of 2005 has doubled the amount of money raised over last year's $11.090 then-record setting Senior Challenge. Shamila Dilmaghani, senior class council president and coordinator of the challenge, presented President Lois B. DeFleur with a check for $20,000 during Commencement 2005 ceremonies.
Funds for the challenge come from student and parent donations, as well as from senior class activities and events. This year, organizers sold sweatshirts, t-shirts and glow-in-the-dark mugs and hosted events including the monthly Senior Night Out.
“We are the last class to graduate that was here when 9/11 occurred, so it is very fitting and meaningful that we provide special lighting for the 9/11 memorial and memorial boulders in the Memorial Courtyard, and a plaque memorializing our beloved classmate Keith Nintzel,” Dilmaghani said. “In addition, we have raised enough to provide money for the Senior Challenge scholarship and other Memorial Courtyard needs.”
