9/11 Remembrance Planned
People will gather near the flag pole in front of the Couper Administration Building around 8:40 a.m. At 8:46 a.m., bells will chime to mark the moment when the first plane struck the World Trade Center.
Several New York State University Police officers, led by Investigator Don Chier, will participate in a flag ceremony. The flag will fly at half staff for part of the day.
President Lois B. DeFleur and others will then proceed to the Memorial Courtyard in the Fine Arts quad, where she will make brief remarks, place flowers at the monument and observe a moment of silence.
Fifteen University alumni perished in the attacks in New York and Washington, which took the lives of nearly 3,000 people.
