INSIDE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
Senior a major force behind campus concerts
Craig, a 20-year-old management major from Latham, became involved with the programming board after attending a Jim Brewer show freshman year. On the back of his ticket there was a telephone number for students interested in coordinating campus shows.
Since then, Craig has helped to coordinate every SA-sponsored music event at the University, including the Friday, Sept. 23, Ludacris show at the Events Center. Craig was able to lure the popular main-stream rap artist to campus by making a request early in the summer, while Ludacris was still planning his tour.
“I think it’s good for this campus because we haven’t had much diversity in music in the last four years,” Craig said.
Craig, a senior who has a dual concentration in marketing and leadership and consulting, is unsure if he’ll pursue a career in music event planning. One of his goals is to do marketing for a film company.
Busy as he is, Craig still takes time to relax. “I like to listen to music and play intramural softball,” he said.
David Hagerbaumer, director of campus life, said Craig achieves his goals because of his willingness to take risks.
“He is incredibly hard-working and always thinking about the students,” said Hagerbaumer, who has worked with Craig since he became a member of the programming board.
