Anderson Center offers diverse lineup for 2006-07 season

The Enchantment Theatre Company will present Cinderella in December.

Swiss maestro Thierry Fischer will conduct the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on campus in 2007.
The Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company, the official national folk dance company of the Philippines, will perform Tuesday, Oct. 24. The company of 45 dancers is accompanied by live music. The performance will take place on United Nations Day, the date of the centennial of Philippine Emigration to the United States.
The BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Swiss maestro Thierry Fischer, will showcase young Welch pianist Llyr Williams in a concert on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. The program will include Strauss’ Don Juan, Op. 20; Bartok’s Piano Concerto No. 3; Stravinsky’s Petrouchka; and Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from the opera Peter Grimes.
Opera Verdi Europa will present Puccini’s Turandot on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007. The story of the cruel Eastern princess who slays those who love her offers a musical structure that places this work at the peak of Puccini’s achievement.
The Moscow Festival Ballet will present a full-length performance of The Sleeping Beauty on Monday, April 23, 2007. The show promises a lush musical score, luxurious sets and costumes and bravura dancing.
The Anderson Center will also offer special family programming. The Enchantment Theatre Company will present Cinderella on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Enchantment Theatre Company transforms this romantic story into a touching production using imaginative sets, lighting, life-size puppets, masks, shadow play, exquisite costumes and dazzling special effects.

Subscription prices are $175 for the general public, $152.50 for faculty, staff and senior citizens and $90 for students. Single ticket prices are $39 for the general public, $34 for faculty, staff and seniors and $20 for students. Tickets for the family performance of Cinderella are $8 for adults and $6 for children.
