Continuing Education and Outreach will offer four summer programs for young people.

Leadership for Teens, for students entering grades seven-12, will focus on decision making, innovation, motivation, negotiation skills, teamwork, public speaking, service learning, presentations and project management. The program will run from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. July 30-Aug. 4. Commuter registration is $179; residential registration, which includes meals, campus housing and evening activities, is $625.

The Summer Dance Institute, for dancers ages 10-18 with at least five years of training, focuses on developing each dancer’s technique and encourages personal growth through ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, master classes, dance history, performance and choreography. The program runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. July 8-20. Commuter registration is $550; residential registration is $1,200.

The Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop, for performers ages 12-18, will culminate in a performance of Aida. The program runs in two sessions (9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.) from July 23-Aug. 12. Auditions will be held in June. Commuter registration is $395; residential fee is $2,995.

The Summer Art Institute will offer two segments, Art from Around the World for children ages 8-12 and Futuristic Art for children ages 13-18, from Aug. 6-10.

The younger children will meet from 9 a.m.-noon, looking at different world artifacts and drawing inspiration from them to make their own art. The sessions for teens run from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday. Students in that session will use problem-solving skills and creativity to find artistic and creative uses for “junk.” Registration costs $159.
