Eric Coker has been appointed news editor for the Office of Communications and Marketing and began his duties on Aug. 18.

A graduate of SUNY Brockport with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in history, Coker will coordinate and oversee news gathering, writing and message development for Inside, Dateline and B-line, as well as From the President. He will also work to ensure that up-to-date news is on the University’s homepage.

Coker comes to the University from the Press & Sun-Bulletin, where for the past eight years he has worked in the newsroom, first as assistant news editor and more recently as news editor. In those roles, he was responsible for editing Page One and all local copy, as well as designing the front page, managing the night desk staff and updating the Web site daily with new content.
