INSIDE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
University offers voluntary separation program
The strengths and achievements of Binghamton University come from the contributions of faculty, staff, and administrators throughout the institution.
In these challenging times, President Lois B. DeFleur and her senior staff are committed to seeking solutions to budget reductions that honor the contributions of those who have forged our reputation for excellence.
In that vein, Binghamton University is pleased to offer a one-time, local, Voluntary Separation Program to all Binghamton University full-time M/C, UUP, CSEA, Council 82, PEF, and NYSCOPBA employees, as well as full-time employees of the Binghamton University Foundation and Research Foundation. The University is unable to extend the opportunity to Research Foundation employees who are compensated from the direct costs of an externally sponsored project.
Employees who have 15 or more uninterrupted years of service at Binghamton and who were on the payroll full time as of Jan. 21, 2010, are eligible for a lump-sum payment of 35 percent of their current base salary. Individuals with more than 25 years of service will be eligible for a lump-sum payment of 50 percent of their current base salary. Individuals who think they might want to participate are asked to submit an application of interest to Human Resources by March 1. Employees would then have several weeks to explore what an action to resign or retire would mean to them. Date for receipt of the final commitment is April 15.
More details on the program, including a program timeline, link to the application of interest and a list of frequently asked questions can be found at http://www2.binghamton.edu/human-resources/current-employees/Voluntary-Separation-Program/index.html.
An open information session will also be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the University Union’s Old Union Hall. Another session for second- and third-shift employees will be held at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the University Union’s Old Union Hall. Individuals who have an interest in the program and have additional questions are encouraged to attend.
