Binghamton University seeks former Peace Corps volunteers

BINGHAMTON, NY -- The US Peace Corps will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in March 2011 and Binghamton University is planning a variety of events in recognition of this milestone.

As one of the top volunteer producing universities, Binghamton University has more alumni serving in the Peace Corps than any other SUNY campus. Since the Corps’ inception in 1961, over 230 Binghamton University alumni have joined its ranks, serving in countries around the world, including Botswana, Cape Verde, Guatemala, Mongolia and Ukraine.

Binghamton is hoping to gather as many Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCV) as possible to participate in the celebration – even those who may not have gone to the University. Festivities will include exhibits, panel discussions, guest speakers and presentations.

For more information, RPCV-ers can contact Meg Mitzel at 607-777-6758 or mmitzel@binghamton.edu
