Binghamton University to hold commencement ceremonies May 21-22
BINGHAMTON, NY -- Binghamton University will award three honorary degrees during Commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 21 -22, in the Events Center.
Honorary doctorates will be awarded to Terence M. Keane and Owen C. Pell, both alumni, and David W. Orr. A University Medal will be awarded to William Chen.
A preeminent researcher, scholar and clinician, Keane will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree and speak at the Graduate School ceremony to be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21. Pell, senior partner at White & Case LLP in New York City will receive the honorary Doctor of Laws and speak at the Harpur College morning ceremony to be held at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 22. In addition, Orr, educator and writer at the forefront of the green campus concept, will receive the honorary Doctor of Science and speak at the Harpur College 3:30 p.m. afternoon ceremony and Chen, a landmark researcher in the field of stress analysis applied to miniature electromechanical components, as well as in advance packaging technology, will speak at the professional schools ceremony scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on that same day.
Student speakers at the commencement ceremonies include Nicole Rouhana, who will speak at the Graduate School ceremony; Sharif Khalil who will speak at the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Harpur College ceremony; Yann Ilboudo, who will speak at the professional schools ceremony at 12:00 p.m., and Nathan Satin who will speak at the 3:30 p.m. Harpur College ceremony.
Overall, Binghamton University will confer approximately 3,240 degrees for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral candidates during Commencement ceremonies.
