Binghamton University nursing students conduct annual disaster drill
The annual disaster drill coordinated by Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing students, faculty and staff will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, in the University Events Center. The drill will simulate a tornado evacuation and the Events Center will serve as a temporary medical center.
Responders will be pulled in from Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center’s emergency room, the Red Cross of Broome County, Harpur’s Ferry and University Police.
“Victims” will be transported to the Events Center, which will act as a surge capacity center where nursing students will evaluate the injuries. Counselors will also be on hand to work with “victims” and others who witnessed or were affected by the tornado.
