Binghamton University student wins national entrepreneur contest

Binghamton University undergraduate Bertrand Gervais was named a winner in the 2006 East Coast Student (Collegiate) Entrepreneur Awards competition.

The competition, coordinated through Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, is open to undergraduate-level students in colleges, universities, technical or career schools who run their own businesses in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Delaware.

Gervais was recognized for developing an online business called Placefinder that helps students find housing as well as connect with possible roommates. The company grew out of Gervais’ work in the Binghamton University School of Management’s business plan development course.
