Purim Carnival to benefit children's foundation

The annual Purim Carnival will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in the East Gym on the Binghamton University campus. The carnival is open to the public and features a wide array of game booths, rides, attractions, music and food, including unlimited free humentashen (jelly-filled cookies).

The carnival benefits various charities including the Children of Chernobyl, a non-profit organization that treats sick children still affected by radiation from the 1986 nuclear power plant blast in the Ukraine. This year carnival organizers hope to attract more than 2,000 attendees and generate enough money to help children get airlifted to hospitals for treatment.

A $2 admission fee includes five carnival tickets; $5 admission fee includes all of the rides and attractions.

The carnival is sponsored by the Chabad House Jewish Student Center, and co-sponsored by Hillel-JSU, Alpha Sigma Phi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, the Jewish Heritage Program, Off Campus College, Sodexho Marriott, Late Nite Binghamton, the Student Association and many of the residential communities.

For more information, call Chabad House at 797-0015.
