Harpur Forum to welcome international education leader

     Professor George Walker, a British educator and the former director general of the International Baccalaureate Organization, will discuss “Education: A National or an International Affair?” at the Harpur Forum breakfast meeting on Wednesday, January 25, at the Binghamton Club in downtown Binghamton.


      Walker, who is based in Geneva, Switzerland, served as director general of the International Baccalaureate organization from 1999-2006. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1992 for his services to education.


      Walker studied chemistry at Oxford University and music at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He began his career in education as a science teacher in the United Kingdom. Today he is a visiting professor of education at the University of Bath and the author of articles and books on physical chemistry, comprehensive education and international education.


      The Harpur Forum serves business, professional and community leaders by bringing nationally known authorities to speak at functions throughout the year.
Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 8 a.m.
