Binghamton University students unveil Formula One style racer

Seniors in the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University will unveil their capstone design project, an open-wheeled Indy-type racer from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the President’s Reception room of the Anderson Center.

The result of three semesters and thousands of hours of work logged by the team of Watson engineering students, the car will be entered into the Society of Automotive Engineers Formula SAE design competition.  Over 100 universities are expected to compete in this international undergraduate engineering design competition.  Segments of the June competition in the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan will be aired on ESPN, ESPN 2 and SpeedTV.  The team captain Alex Zelenka and faculty advisor Dr. George Catalano will give a brief presentation before the unveiling.  For more information call 607-777-4881.
