SBDC conference to celebrate women in business

Binghamton University's Small Business Development Center will host a conference to celebrate women in business on Wednesday, October 27, at the Owego Treadway Inn, Owego.

“Celebrating Women In Business” will offer workshops and networking opportunities for current and prospective businesswomen. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by an opening address at 8:15 a.m.

The luncheon keynote speaker is Lucinda Yates, owner of “Designs by Lucinda,” a cause-related company that specializes in making fundraising pins. The company has a line of theme-based fundraising pins, an international distribution network and a growing workforce. It has sold more that 3.5 million pins and has helped raise $18 million since the company's inception in 1989.

The conference will offer nine breakout sessions focusing on topics such as mentoring, how to conduct business with the government, and identity theft.

Co-sponsors of the conference include Time Warner Cable, Ruby & Son Jewelers, NBT Bank, Women's Business Center of NYS, the BCC Excel Program and the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce.

Registration, if paid before September 22, is $67, or $75 if paid after that. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon refreshments are included.
